No parent starts off knowing what to do...

And without Conscious Effort, Our Parenting Methods Can Create Conflict Instead of Connection. The authoritarian way most of us have been taught to parent, creates conflict and frustration, endless power struggles and leaves us with broken and distant relationships with our children.

When we parent our children without working through our own history, we are destined to repeat painful patterns we ourselves experienced as children, no matter how badly we want it to be different.

It’s Never Too Late to Turn Things Around

No matter what your relationship with your child(ren) looks like right now, there is hope. Depending on where things are at, it can be hard to believe there is truly another way. But I promise you there is.

None of us start off as parents knowing what to do. We create plans, try to be the people we want to be and watch as our idealistic imaginings get run over by the reality of daily life and the immense pressures of caring for our kids.

Hi! I'm Whitney

When I was a little girl, I would run and rescue my hysterical baby sister from her crib and nurture her. This was the first indicator of how innately driven I was to become both a mother and a cycle breaker. So much so, I spent the larger half of my young adulthood insatiably reading parenting books. Parent coaching wasn't mentioned at the career fairs; I discovered it after pursuing my degree in interior design, another passion of mine!

When it was time to start growing my family, I was diagnosed with PCOS and met with years of infertility and heartache, which ultimately led to adoption. In those years of uncertainty, I remained hopeful and continued to further ignite my passion through consuming anything and everything on the science and literature of parenting and psychology.

The unintended consequence of this obsession in combination with my day job was a perfect recipe in healing my own childhood wounds as well as those of friends, family and clients. The impact of this work was profound and I knew I needed to share its value with as broad of an audience as I could reach — parents, caretakers, educators or anyone who has ever been a child themselves!

In addition to parent coaching sessions, my work infuses various principles of Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, RIE, and NVC in parenting, as well as redesigning homes and children's spaces. I continue to witness the profound psychological and emotional impact of transforming environments, most significantly my clients' young children.

Redesigning Parenting is a holistic approach that guides families from surviving to thriving in parenthood and beyond. I'm excited to bring this transformative work to your family or workplace. Let’s collaboratively create your personalized blueprint for feel-good parenting, backed by science!

The traditional ‘POWER-OVER’ model of parenting isn’t working

Which makes you feel like you’re going to spend the rest of your life struggling with your children and continue to feel like you’re just not doing a good job as a parent.

I believe that the real issue is that we’re not taught how to be the kind of parents most of us long to be so we end up slipping into the patterns that were ingrained in us in our own childhoods.

I understand how hard it is to ask for help as a parent. Which is why when you contact me, you will be met with understanding, a non-judgemental openness and a supportive, personalized, effective plan that I will personally guide you through every step of the way.

"I am a single father with a toddler daughter. I was losing my mind trying to navigate the toddler years. I invested in the 12 week reparenting program which is a wealth of information. Whitney is like having a parent ally on your side. She was able to help me find ways to ground myself and understand my daughter's needs and how to set up an environment for her to succeed in. This work has been a godsend in and outside our home.”

“When I told Whitney “I wish I had done this sooner” she reminded me that I wasn’t ready until now, and now was not too late. This is time and money well spent. Because of this work I’ve done with Whitney I now enjoy the connection with my two children so much more.”

-Rachelle

“I am a single mother of two children ages 8 and 16. Our family of 3 had been struggling connecting together, the house was filled with arguments and despair. Whitney’s knowledge and presence is such a gift. She helped me mend my childhood wounds so that I can be aware of when I am behaving out of old conditioned patterns. Thanks to Whitney I am able to attune to my old ways and choose to deploy new techniques that feel good to me. I wish I could have been parented from the place I am parenting from now. I am so grateful for her listening ear and humility. I feel like I get to have a weekly coffee date with a friend while learning how to be a better parent.”

How It Works:

When you book a call with me, we’ll sit down together and talk so I can get a sense of what’s going on for you and your family and where I can offer support.

I’ll explain my approach and the options we have for working together. You can ask any questions you have and see what type of support would be the best fit for your life and schedule.

If it feels right to you, we can book our first session and get started.  If it’s not a good fit, I will do my best to offer alternative resources or suggestions for support, wherever possible. There’s no pressure of any kind, simply an opportunity to see if we are a good fit to work together.

“I have been working with Whitney since our daughters were in elementary school. One is off at college and the other is about to graduate highschool. I did not grow up with a naturally nurturing mother, therefore I did not have much experience in this department. I was committed to doing my best by my children, which is why I sought guidance from Whitney. I finally have found my inner voice and have learned how imperative it is to myself and my children to understand our wide range of feelings and to express them in healthy ways. I have seen and felt a significant difference in my relationship with my girls, and how it’s trickled into their relationships with others. It truly is wholesome.”

-Lana

“We are a family of 5 who came to Whitney looking for ways to help our children get along better with one another. In short, we walked away with more than we could have ever anticipated. My wife and I went through the program together and in result have a much deeper understanding of each other and our children individually. We have been able to extend so much grace to one another and that modeling has impacted the children's relationships with one another. I could write extensively about the incredible work Whitney is doing but I am tied to a word limit! The Johnson’s are big fans!”

“This testimonial is for anyone who is skeptical of asking for “help” because you feel like you should just know this stuff. Parenting is hard, and there is no manual. As both a mother and healthcare professional I recommend Whitney to anyone looking for personalized support. As she brings the science and evidence of what has been proven to be effective in raising confident, compassionate and capable children – and it just feels right to the soul. Also, she’ll probably make you laugh!”
